Stations

Station 1

Postal Address:

                Raytown Fire Protection District

                6020 Raytown Trafficway

                Raytown, Missouri 64133

Watch as we change the looks of these stations. A new page was created just for this purpose. We will be remodeling and adding on to both stations in 2007. Click here to go to that page.

Front view of Station 1 prior to constructionThis is a picture of station number one. It was designed and built in 1980 at the same time station number two was being built. A bond levy was passed the year before that authorized construction of both buildings, the purchase of four apparatus and all the necessary equipment the station and the apparatus. It houses the fire administration offices, the duty chief and their office, the Fire Marshal's office and the on duty crew. This is where the fire board meets twice a month.

The eight apparatus bays are drive through style and deep enough for a 100 foot aerial, two pumpers, one ambulance and two utility vehicles. Most of the  apparatus bays have exhaust extraction system, a SCBA compressor and fill station, a turn-out gear washer/extractor, turn-out gear lockers, extra hose storage, a hose washing/drying system, apparatus air brake supply system and a maintenance tool/equipment shop.

The station has a full basement which has been modified as a class room and a physical fitness room. Additional storage spaces, records vault, utility and laundry facilities, and public restrooms. The station has an automatic emergency generator.

Station One has leased ground space with a cellular phone provider. In addition to the lease, the fire district has two of our VHF frequency antennas.

Station 2

Postal Address:

                Raytown Fire Protection District

                7611 Raytown Road

                Raytown, Missouri 64138

Front view of station 2 prior to construction

This is a picture of number 2 station, located on the south side of the city. Originally built for two personnel per shift, it now houses twice as many personnel. In 1985 one more firefighter was added to each shift at this station after a successful election campaign asked the question to the voters; "Is two enough?". In 2000 an additional firefighter position was added to each shift, making the on- duty crew at this station with one Captain, one Driver and a combination of one firefighter EMT or Firefighter Paramedic or two firefighter EMTs. The fire district has expanding it's EMS services to the ALS level with State of Missouri EMRA licensure. Some of the existing fire personnel are trained to the paramedic level and assigned to one per station.

Unlike station 1, this station does not have a basement. It has two drive through bays, office and living spaces. It has an natural gas powered emergency generator, a self sustaining radio system on the VHF and 800mHz frequencies.

A pumper and a quint will be at each station.

Both stations are "linked" together with a fiber optic network. The personnel connect to the computer server at station one and reports are generated.  The two way video is being developed to try and keep the on-duty crew in their station instead of coming to station one for training or other administrative duties. This will reduce costs and lower response times.

Individual  sleeping quarters (cubicles) were constructed in 2001. This is being done as a proactive step to provide separate quarters for male and female employees at both stations.
