Original design for Honor Guard helmet shieldRaytown Fire District Honor Guard

Under special circumstances this organization was formed and is now functioning. The Fire District was caught off guard when an active duty member passed away. The Fire District members had never been given a set of Dress uniforms. The Fire Board gave permission to have this done in time for the funeral. Shortly afterwards, the Honor Guard was first formulated. Several employees came forward and expressed a desire to have an honor guard that would do what Honor Guards are known for; to honor us and the entire fire service by showing our best, with respectful pride and dignity for the  public when special events happen.

Outfitting was acquired and several practice sessions were completed prior to the 'teams' unveiling at our first annual awards banquet. Since that time, refinements have been added to he equipment and uniforms. The team has performed at parades, memorial services and other awards dinners.  Below are some of the pictures taken a these events.

Honor Guard members currently; Driver Bill Schoffstall, Firefighter Paramedic Tom Ratterman, Firefighter Paramedic Andy Finkelstein, Firefighter EMT Tyler Turner, Firefighter EMT Josh Hargis, Firefighter Paramedic Phil Giegriech, and Captain Bill Denney. Captain Denney was responsible for designing the uniforms, helmets, badges, flags and standards, assorted equipment and training other honor guard team members.
