EMS - Course Offerings and Training

Star of LifeThe following class offerings are for informational purposes for our personnel, Raytown Emergency Medical Services personnel and for qualified personnel that desire training in EMS training classes. EMS CEU's are available on a subscription basis. Contact Battalion Chief Mike Hunley or Firefighter Paramedic Ty Helphrey for further class registration information, payment options and fund policy . People needing special consideration for ADA requirements, please notify us before the  registration deadline for the class so that we can accommodate your needs. 

The Raytown Fire Protection District has been given authorization to provide Continuing Education Units by the State of Missouri Bureau of EMS for Emergency Medical Technician and Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic. We are also a registered training site provider with the American Heart Association for all levels of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation classes, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, PEPP and PHTLS.

Class Offerings

The Raytown Fire District is offering a variety of educational opportunities to maintain or advance in the field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS).  Raytown Fire is an active provider of medical education and a certified State of Missouri continuing education provider.  The Fire Department is also an American Heart Association Training Center.  Raytown has been approved as a provider of PALS education. The following are course descriptions and pricing for delivery.

The goal of the Raytown Fire Medical Education program is improve the knowledge base of medical providers and the public.  Patient disability and mortality can be dramatically improved by appropriate recognition and pre-hospital treatment.

Class sizes are limited.  Class space is not reserved until payment received.  Please enroll at least 30 days prior to non-CEU courses to allow for shipment of textbooks.

Other classes are available upon request.  Classes can be delivered at your facility on a fee basis.

American Heart Association Courses

Advanced Cardiac Life Support: Treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies, emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support – initial certification $190 for 2 days

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support – renewal $125 for 1 day

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support – instructor $125 for 1 day

Pediatric Advanced Life Support: Recognition of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest, strategies for preventing cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children, resuscitation and stabilization infants and children in respiratory failure, shock, or cardiopulmonary arrest.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support – initial certification $300 for 2 days

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support – renewal $165 for 1 day

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers: Adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation.

  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers – initial certification $165 for 6 hours

  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers – renewal $125 for 3 hours

  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers – instructor $125 for 5 hours

Heartsaver AED: CPR, AED use, relief of choking in adults and children, and infant CPR and relief of choking, and use of barrier devices for all ages
$125 for 4 hours

Heartsaver 1st Aid: Manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives
$125 for 6 hours

Friends and Family CPR: An introduction to CPR and the treatment of choking

International Trauma Life Support (ITLS): Prehospital trauma care philosophy, stressing the need to treat the multi-system trauma

  • International Trauma Life Support – initial certification $190 for 2 days

  • International Trauma Life Support - renewal $125 for 1 day

Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP): Emergent care of infants and children, assess and manage ill or injured children

  • Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers – initial certification $190 for 2 days

  • Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers – renewal $125 for 1 day

Continuing Education Courses (CEU'S)

Paramedic and EMT CEU's are offered three days each month.
$30 for 3 hours
