This was the day room for Station 1's crew

This was the kitchen at Station 1. Old cabinets were recycled to Rotary Youth Camp

Caterpillar versus an old oak tree. The tree was planted 27 years ago.

After moving out, non-friable asbestos was removed from the floor tile mastic.

Interior walls, ceilings, floor coverings virtually everything was removed in the demolition

Another view looking west. The construction superintendent and the fire marshal talk things over.

The front of Station one had a large overhang for the front porch. It was removed as well as the brick facing.

The basement at Station one had water leaking through the concrete walls. Here, excavation was done to provide water proofing and drainage.

Oops, the stations water supply line was accidentally hit, filling a recent excavation. An old farm house foundation was discovered buried.

The front drive is being demolished. Subsurface drains are to run underneath to storm drains

The original drive was crumbling and severely damaged. Here, it is being jack hammered to be removed.

The temporary housing for the crews and administration are for sale. They are currently listed on eBay as well. Please see the link on our home page.

The design build team from McGowan-Gordon, Hoeffer-Wysoki and Fire Department members have met on a regular basis for project management issues and correct change orders and product selection.

After the meeting, the team does a field review to verify items that were just discussed.

The second retaining wall is started at station one on the west side of the property. Arlington Avenue runs parallel to this wall.

The existing stair case to the basement nears completion with knee walls, new hand rails and tread resurfacing.

The rear parking lot construction continues despite heavy rains.

Events at Number 2 Station

This was the kitchen at Station 2. The cabinets were donated to Rotary Youth Camp

The entire living quarters was demolished. This included the roof, floor and footings.

This is another view of the building coming down.

The decision to tear this part of the building versus interior remodel and addition was primarily cost driven

Brick facial on both buildings was torn down with the thought of recycling the old brick to match in areas of needed repair.

More demo work

Site plans are reviewed during construction to build what is designed.

The rear patio is installed with a walk out access on the east side of the day room. A natural gas BBQ grill is planned to be installed on the patio

Epoxy floor has been installed in the bathrooms, kitchen and dining room.

The mansard roofing was removed and stucco walls will be installed. This removal opened the apparatus truck room to the elements. Plastic sheeting covered the openings to keep rain and debris out.

Heavy duty hot water heater and high volume / high pressure compressor were installed in the outbuilding truck room.

Flooring for the work out exercise room is being installed. This is a rubber based material that resists damage from exercise equipment

Each bunkroom dormitory has a desk unit with power and network connections. Each dorm room will have three individual lockers.

This is a close up view of the carpet design that was chosen. This application uses stick down squares so that any damaged carpet in the future can be replaced without taking the whole room's carpet out.

Each station is equipped with an alarm system that is monitored 24 hours a day. Fire extinguisher cabinets were recessed into the walls. Also, a portion of a fire rated door is seen here, required between the living quarters and the apparatus bay.

Stucco work begins above the apparatus room on the east side.

Dining room table and chairs match the interior design. An additional breakfast bar with matching chairs will be installed on the counter next to the table.

All the bathroom fixtures and lighting have been installed.

The finished dorm hallway. There are two exit doors from here. The one at the end of this hallway has to be finished.

Curbs and guttering laid down prior to the parking lot.

The base for the rear parking lot is being installed prior to concrete being poured.
